Il vero Alfredo

As these pages print it.

Tel. and Fax, and the 2010 digits

The telephone is not one line copied from page to page. The splash prints labels and a prefix. The English frameset prints the prefix twice. The 2010 Italian frameset prints two full 06 numbers. Putting those digits back onto the splash would invent a line the splash does not have.

The fax is even shorter. On the splash it is the word Fax and a slash. No frameset on these pages adds a fax number after that slash.

The splash table, cell by cell

Under 00186 ROMA, the splash splits the next row. The left cell says Tel. with a space before the full stop is absent: the letters are Tel. including the full stop. The right cell of that row is only a slash.

The row beneath has an empty left cell and a right cell that reads +39 06/. The plus, a space, 39, a space, and 06 with a slash are all that is printed. There is no subscriber number after the slash. There is no second prefix on this page.

The fax row repeats the pattern. The left cell says Fax. The right cell is a slash, with a space in the markup before the slash. No digits follow it. The table then ends the address block. The note on the square is the block directly above these rows, and it does not contain the telephone.

index.htm carries the same table. Opening the index does not complete the number. Both copies stop at +39 06/ and at the fax slash. The slash is the whole right-hand cell.

The English frameset writes the prefix twice

The no-frames text of english/home.htm says Tel. +39 06/ - +39 06/. The word Tel. is there. Each side of the hyphen is +39 06/ and nothing more. The page prints two unfinished prefixes, not one finished number.

00186 ROME sits above that line. The city word is ROME, as the address note separates from ROMA. The telephone line does not pick up ROMA or ROME. It stays with the two prefixes and the hyphen.

There is no Fax label in that English no-frames block. The splash has Fax and a slash. The English frameset has neither the word Fax nor a slash standing alone. The two pages should not be collapsed into one telephone line.

The title AUUSTEO on that English page is a spelling of the name, not a digit. Nothing in the telephone line repairs the missing G, and nothing in the title adds the missing subscriber numbers. The hyphen has a space on each side. Fax is absent from this no-frames block. Neither side gains digits.

What the 2010 frameset does print

The Italian frameset from 27 May 2010, now back at home.htm, prints Tel. 06/68.78.734 - 06/68.78.615. Both numbers use 06, a slash, and dots inside the rest of the digits. A hyphen with spaces separates the two numbers. There is no +39 on this line.

Those digits belong to this no-frames block. They are not on the splash, and they are not on the English frameset. The splash still ends at +39 06/. Reading the digits off home.htm and typing them under the splash Tel. would join two printings the pages themselves keep apart.

The same 2010 block prints 00186 ROMA above the telephone, not 00186 ROME. The Italian button on the splash points at this frameset. A visitor who follows Versione Italiana reaches the page that has the digits. A visitor who stays on the splash does not see them there.

The frameset does not label either number as a fax. Fax remains the splash row with a slash and no digits. The note on the titles quotes the frameset sentences around this table, including contenete and SUCCESSIVO, and does not add a fax number either.

What none of the pages adds

No page prints a mobile number. No page prints an email address. The history page and the English home at index-eng.htm do not contain Tel. or Fax at all. Their footer is ©2010 All Rights Reserved, and WebDesign by, with no name and no number after by.

Follow us online and Share are headings on those two pages. The list items under them are empty. They are not telephone numbers, and they are not a social address written out.

The history sentence about 1950 names Piazza Augusto Imperatore, 30 and Via della Scrofa. It does not attach 06/68.78.734 or +39 06/ to either place. The portrait captions Alfredo I, Alfredo II and Alfredo III do not carry a phone.

The golden fork sentence on the splash names Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. It does not give them a number, and it does not sit in the telephone table. No extension is printed. The note on the fork and spoon stays with that sentence and with the dedication on the history page.

The slash is the whole fax

It is easy to treat a slash as a placeholder that must be filled. On the splash, the slash is the printed fax. The right-hand cell does not continue. The left-hand cell does not hide further digits in an image. The image in that half of the page is the portrait, alt Alfredo, l'imperatore delle fettuccine, caption Alfredo III°.

The telephone side is only slightly longer: a slash in one cell, +39 06/ in the next. Completing it from the 2010 frameset would be a choice the splash does not make. The frameset is a separate page, reached by the Italian button, with its own Tel. line and without the word Fax.

The English frameset makes a third choice: the prefix twice, a hyphen between them, and no subscriber digits. Three pages, three telephone lines. Only one of them has 68.78.734 and 68.78.615. Only the splash has Fax. The yellow row prints ITALIANO and ENGLISH and does not finish the fax. The caption Alfredo III° is not a telephone.

Questions

Does the splash print 06/68.78.734?

No. That number is on the 2010 frameset at home.htm. The splash prints +39 06/ and, for the fax, a slash.

Does the English frameset finish the number?

No. It prints Tel. +39 06/ - +39 06/. Both sides stop at the slash.

Is there an email on these pages?

No. The history and the English article page end with WebDesign by and no address after it. Follow us online has an empty list.
